Description
I'm giving the Long Beach Ice Bar a five star for several reasons; theme, happy hour, food, and night life after 11pm. It is in my opinion just as some have a fondness or hatred for the rapper Vanilla Ice (shameless pun), one will either love or hate this bar/restaurant with no in-betweens. If you enjoy trends or top forty music (on any level), I believe you will enjoy the Ice Bar.
The Ice Bar's theme architects pulled out all the stops in converting this downtown space, once housing the infamous Long Beach Comedy Club, into an A-List Hollywood brand venue. I actually walked a red carpet to get inside the Ice Bar. I felt like I stepped into what I call, Superman's crystal getaway. I'm sure you can remember his "Fortress of Solitude". The Ice Bar's website describes its décor in this way, "Guests will have the ability to Dine in our all White Boutique Lounge or have Drinks at the Bar with Design Elements of Underwater Ice Coral Reefs from the Artic Sea."
As for now, the Ice Bar's happy hour is still the best kept secret in downtown Long Beach. The sushi & drink menu come down in price a great deal and you'll have the place to yourselves! I had a blast meeting the few people at the bar that were also enjoying Pine Avenue. Our server and bartender, Carlos hooked our group up!
The sushi I had was very fresh. I enjoyed Tuna, Yellowtail, and some wonderfully made sushi rolls that I believe the chef made specifically to find the crispy, spicy, and heavenly taste buds in my mouth. The O.C Weekly had this to say as well, "The Ridiculously Themey Ice Bar Actually Serves Some Pretty Cool Food."
The Ice Bar after 11pm is high living. The dance floor is full of fun, the cocktail waitresses in white mini dresses are gorgeous, and the DJ's music in my opinion can keep most college students dancing and drinking their night away. I wonder if the DJ ever plays "Ice, Ice, Baby"? (I know! another shameless pun. Ha!) I guess you'll have to check it out, too.
